I really enjoyed this project because I have a dad who serves our country everyday. It is very special for me to be able to thank the men and women of our military for all that they do to protect our country and defend our freedom.

Our book is very special to me because we’ve been writing books for three years and this year our teacher wanted to publish it. Our pastor, Fr. Joe wrote a letter to us about how great our book was, too.

I feel making a book and publishing it is a wonderful experience for a fourth grade class. My feelings for the book are not expressible. It is amazing, wonderful, beautiful, and colorful. I am really glad we dedicated it to all the soldiers everywhere. I was reading the classes’ letters and they were beautiful. Mike McNeal helped us a lot in printing the book. Well, I am glad I will be walking out of the fourth grade with a published book!!!

Our book is titled Dear Soldier. This book took a lot of teamwork and effort from the fourth grade class. We first collected pictures and medals from family and friends in the military. The letters that were written to the soldiers were also special. I thought at first it was just going to be another book, but after I saw the results I was amazed. I think our book is awesome. It was fun antiquating the pages. Our class is very proud of their work. I really think we will sell many copies. We showed how proud we are of all the soldiers. They are all our heroes.

Our trip to the KUSI TV station was very exciting. Some of my classmates and I were there to do an interview about our book Dear Soldier. We all arrived early in the morning. When I first saw the studio, I thought it was pretty small and nothing like it is on TV. I was still pretty nervous and I hoped that I wouldn’t make any mistakes. Finally, it was time for us to go on live TV! We all said our parts about the book and Nick even read his letter. It was great, but I was glad to be done. My first TV experience was great,  but I was glad to be done. My first TV experience was something I will never forget.

My class’ Dear Soldier book is a WONDERFUL book that WE made! It was an exciting experience! We had an assembly at school and Congressman Filner was there to present us with our book! It was so cool. I am very proud of myself, my class and the teachers and parents. It was a great accomplishment! It could be a very good thing one day!
