DAYCARE for the 2008-2009
School Year!!!
WELCOME to the St. Pius. X Extended Day Program. Our faculty and
staff are here to provide a safe and structured sanctuary for students whose
parents or guardians work beyond school hours.
The Extended Day Program is staffed with a Director and several employees. Our
team works together to safeguard your children, provide attention, consistency,
fair treatment, and hand them to you sound at the end of each day.
We wish to keep your children safe, happy, and secure while using our program.
Therefore, a list of necessary rules and policies has been prepared for you.
We ask that you take the time to discuss this booklet with your child so
that both of you are familiar with it. Doing so will reinforce your trust in
the Extended Day Program, and will keep our goals in happy communion with yours.
STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY
The
Saint Pins Extended Day Program will value and be guided by the philosophy of St.
Pius X School Quality care in a planned and loving environment will be
provided to each child.
PURPOSE
To provide a safe and healthy environment before and after school hours,
with quiet study time an area for homework and a well supervised play area for
social and learning activities.
EXTENDED
DAY HOURS
The Extension Center opens at 6:30 a.m. every school day. The students
remain inside until 7:45 a.m. They are then excused to the playground until the
bell rings at 8:OO a.m. The grounds are supervised. during this time.
The Extension Center opens at 2:45 p.m. on regular school days, and 12:00 noon
on minimum school days. We stay open until 6:00 p.m. on all school days!!
There is a $20.00 charge for every half hour after 6:00 pm.
If you have an emergency and are not able to pick-up your child by 6:00p.m. You
need to call daycare to notify them of your delay. (619)422-0589
If a child is left at the Center past 7:30 p.m. without contact from the child's
Parent / Guardian, or listed emergency persons, the child will be released to
the Chula Vista Police Department for safe-keeping.
FEES
Daycare fees are $3.50 per hour. Daycare hourly charges are prorated
for every 15 minutes your child uses daycare. There is a minimum charge of
$3.50 per day. No discount are given on hourly rates or fees to families with
more than one child.
There is a $20.00 per child charge for every half hour after 6:00 pm.

INVOICES
Invoices
are issued monthly for daycare services provided before and after school hours.
If your children go to a before/after school program (Sports, Cheer, Tutoring,
Alpha, etc.) and they are not picked up by the programs end, they need to sign
into daycare. You will be billed.
Please
follow your daycare bill schedule to avoid late fees. You have a ten (10)
day grace period to avoid the $15 late fee. Call or write us if you do not
receive and invoice.
METHOD OF
PAYMENT
Daycare
invoices and balances need to be paid by check, money order, credit card
(additional service fee of 2% per transaction) or by cash. Cash
payments must be directly paid to the school accountant in her office to obtain
a receipt. Please do not send cash with your child. All checks need to be
payable to St. Pius X School. Indicate daycare on the memo portion of the
check. We accept non-cash payments by mail. We honor the post
office stamp date. We do not honor the check's date unless received in the
accountants office the same date. You can deposit your non-cash
daycare payments in the school's office box. You are responsible for
verifying that your payment was received.
NSF, LATE,
INTEREST AND REINSTATEMENT FEES
There is a $25.00 fee for every returned check and closed account. Checks must be imprinted
with name and address. Counter checks and temporary checks are not
acceptable, and will be returned.
$15 monthly late fee for invoices not paid within 10 days of invoice date.
2% monthly interest fee added to your balance after late, NSF, and reinstatement
fee is applied to your account.
$50/$75/$100 Reinstatement FEE.
SIGNING YOUR
CHILD IN AND OUT
*It is LAW – all children must be signed in by parent in A.M.
daycare.
**Each child will be signed in as they come from school. An adult employee will
sign them in. They must wait in line until each child is signed in. Only then
may they put school gear away.
**Parents / Guardians must sign their child out NO CHILD WILL BE RELEASED
WITHOUT THE PAR£NT / GUARDIAN PRESENT.
**A child will not be released to any person whose name is not
on the signature card. The Parent / Guardian must notify the Director in writing
if someone not listed is to pick up their child. If the written note does not
match our signature card, the child will not be released.
**Children will not be sent home in a taxi, unless prior arrangement and
identification has been made. If a taxi is used frequently, the Parent /
Guardian must stipulate this on the signature card.
**Parents will accept all responsibility after their child leaves the Extended
Day Program and the School Grounds.
ILLNESS
OR ACCIDENT
Each child will have an Emergency Card on file at the Extension
Center. This is separate from the school office files. The names listed will be
contacted in order until someone has been notified of the child's illness or
injury.
Any special instructions must be listed on the Emergency Card. (For example:
Diabetes, or asthma...etc.)
In cases of a minor nature, the Director will administer first aid.
Serious cases will be dealt with as stipulated by the Parent / Guardian
on the Emergency Card. When all instructions have been exhausted and the
emergency is serious, the Director will act according to his/her best judgment
for the welfare of the child.
If a Parent / Guardian does not want us to treat their child in any manner,
please stipulate your desires on the emergency Card.
The Parent / Guardian must provide transportation for a sick child. The
Extension Center will not provide rides if the child must be sent home.
SICK CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED INTO THE EXTENSION CENTER. THEY WILL BE
ISOLATED AND A PARENT / GUARDIAN MUST PICK THEM UP AS SOON
AS POSSIBLE.
No employee shall administer oral medication. Upon a written statement from
a physician and a written statement from the Parent / Guardian…the child will
self-administer. Method, amount, time, and type of medication must be listed.
DISCIPLINE
AND BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
The following guidelines have been designed to create a consistent,
effective atmosphere. Each child will be treated with respect, fairness,
tolerance, and. equal say.
As a Parent / Guardian, any helpful hints or ideas regarding your child's
behavior is welcome. We will work with you.
The children will be expected to respect and obey the Director and Employees of
the Extended Day program. They will be expected to treat each other in a
Christian manner, and the materials and property of the Center with care.
Our method of discipline used is the “time out”. A time-out is the
result of an infraction against specified regulations. Time-out ranges
from 5 minutes to 15 or more minutes, depending on the infraction.
Consistent disregard of Extended Day expectations will be dealt with as follows:
1. Parent conference with
the Director and child.
2. Detention.
3. Director, parent and principal conference.
The Director has final say in the length of a time-out, or any discipline
issued by the employees.
All children are given the opportunity to give their side of the story in any
discipline matter, with the Director present.

Not cleaning up after eating, or playing (toys and trash must be put where they
belong)

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CENTER
Each child will be provided a snack and a drink A child may bring their own
snack and it may be eaten any time during their stay.
VOLUNTEER HOURS CAN BE EARNED BY HELPING WITH YARD SUPERVISION, PROVIDING SNACKS
OR DONATING GAMES, CARDS, MARBLES, CRAYONS, PAPER, ETC….
REMEMBER!!!! The Extended Day Program is here for your child. If
