Welcome to 8th Grade!

       I am a fourth-generation native Californian and the
third Kathleen in my family and at SPX!  I was born in
Los Angeles, raised in Bakersfield, and graduated from
Santa Clara University with a major in English and a minor
in French.  I have a K-12 Teaching Credential from USD
and Adult Education Credential from UCSD.  I have been
teaching for 31 years.  I have a daughter and son-on law
who are graphic designers and a precious granddaughter,
Sofia Rose, who is 4 1/2 years old.  I love reading, learning
languages, traveling, bears and music of all types.  My
favorite foods are any ethnic cuisine, fish, chocolate, tea,
cookies, and Diet Coke or iced tea.  My pen pal and I have
been friends for 25 years.  I am a Eucharistic Minister,
Co-head coach of the SPX Academic Decathlon teams,
a member of the Liturgy Committee, And a member of
Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an educational
service sorority.  My favorite TV show is Jeopardy!  Please
do not call between 7:30 and 8 because I am in training for
the show, should they ever call me.   My most recent and
exciting accomplishments were visiting Israel in 2008 with
the ADL Bearing Witness Program and being part of the USC
Shoah Foundation Institute /Leichtag Family Foundation
Master Teacher Workshop, where I accessed the Visual
History Archives for testimonies of the Holocaust survivors. 
What I most like about teaching is seeing how my students
grow and progress to success.
